Highlights of Coursework
Welcome to my showcase page! On this page you will find example of assignments that I completed while earning my MAET. The examples show my ability to be a technology specialist, a contributing member of a faculty, as well as implement what I learn into the classroom.
Resources for Other Teachers
Wikispace
This is the Wikispace that I created when I complete my Wicked Problem Project. It is a resource that teachers, specifically world language teachers, can use in their classrooms. These are web 2.0 tools that can help their students to increase their oral proficiency skills as well as become a resource for teachers to assess oral proficiency. There are examples of the tools being used as well as start-up sheets on how to use these tools. Click on the image below to view the website.
Stand Alone Instructional Resource
This is a Stand Alone Instructional Resources for teachers in grades 6-12 on how to use Twitter in a classroom setting.. This is relevant for teachers of all core subjects and specials. All teachers are proficient in using the internet and basic computer functions such as typing, turning the computer off/ on, etc. Some teachers do not know what twitter is, some teachers have heard of twitter and some teachers have used twitter. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the fact that it is embedded, not all functions work properly such as hyper buttons, hyperlinks and audio narration. Below the embedded powerpoint there is a file that the powerpoint show that is 100% functioning.

Screencast for WPP
Below you can view a screencast that I created that explains my Wicked Problem Project. My project was about finding technology tools that can be used to increase oral proficiency in world language classrooms. I had to find technological tools that would solve my problem. The presentation is in a Prezi and then I used JING to create a screencast.
Collaborative Group Work
Technology PlanThis is the technology plan that I developed with two of my classmates at Duquesne. We created a technology plan for a school that encompasses all of the components of a successful technology plan such as a budget, action plan, vision, mission and more. Spanish SIG Project
This is a project that I did with two other Spanish teachers. Each group had to pick a special interest so we selected social media in the world language classroom because it was an interesting topic for all of us. We found social media tools that can be used to teach culture, connect students with native speakers and foster a community of learners within a global community. Examples of the tools are included as well as explanations of the capabilities of these tools.
Group Leadership ProjectOur group's specialty was flipping the classroom. We used the resource WatchKnowLearn.org as the resource that we would create our professional development tutorial. To create our tutorial, we used the resource Adobe Presenter. We used this resource because it allowed us to easily add voice narration over a pre-existing powerpoint. It is very user-friendly for the creator and those who are watching the presentation. While creating this project we used Popplet to mind-map, google docs to create and collaborate and we used google hangout and Skype to have group meetings. Click on the picture to view the link for our script to our presentation. (Note: The presentation is not available to due an expired adobe account)

Online Learning
Spanish Subjunctive Course Using a Learning Management System
This is the course created using the LMS Haiku. In the course I was able to teach the uses of the subjunctive mood as well as the present conjugations. I uploaded powerpoints and word documents for each page to give the students extra practice. I was able to use the tools on Haiku to create assignment, quizzes, audio drop boxes, discussion boards and more. Click on the image below to access the course. Note: You will need to have a Haiku account to view the course. I have created an account that you may use to view the course. Username: msu820spanishsubjunctive Password:cep820. Here is the link and URL to the course website: https://www.myhaikuclass.com/slifersa/apspanish
Spanish Subjunctive Course using Weebly
This is the course that I designed using Weebly. I taught the uses of the subjunctive as well as the present conjugations for the subjunctive. I was able to teach the concepts and embed powerpoints that corresponded with the lessons. I also embedded videos that further explained the concepts and created review and practice assignments. I used web 2.0 tools to create speaking assignments, flashcard sets, discussion forums and more to help students to learn the concepts. The course that I created the website for focused on design, making it an important component in the creation of my site. Click on the image below to view the course website.
Blog/Reflections/Papers
Developer NotebookThis is my developer notebook that I wrote in during the time that it took me to create my online course for CEP 820, which can be viewed above. I was able to reflect on what I was creating as well as reflect on readings, while receiving feedback from my instructor. I also made entries while creating my website and learning about the different Course Management Systems. Click on the image to view the document.

Sustainability Technology Project
This was my final paper for my Technology and Leadership course. A learning problem had to be identified within education. I had to find a technological solution that had to be solved using sustainable resourcing. I had to develop a stakeholder survey as well as a plan to implement my tool. I also had to make connections to the course. My learning problem was learning loss and my solution was flipping the classroom. Click on the image to the right to view my final paper.
